How much do you charge?
Our fee varies according to the nature of the booking, the time of performance, the number of guests, and whether there are any special requirements. We also play a limited number of charity fundraising events each year. Please contact us for a quotation.
How do I secure a booking?
If you're happy with our quotation, we'll send a Booking Agreement for you to sign. This will ringfence the date you require. For private bookings we'll typically require a 20% deposit. All bookings are subject to our terms and conditions, which can be read here.
How long do you play for?
This depends on the event, but we would typically play two or three sets of between 45 and 60 minutes each. For special occasions and celebrations we can provide incidental music, and we have experience of performing as in integral part of ceremonies.
As a guide, we usually require 45 minutes to set up our equipment and to sound check before the performance.
What will you play for me?
We select appropriate mellow or lively music to suit the venue, audience and occasion, and are happy to tailor our sets to accommodate special requests. For weddings we are happy to learn up to two additional songs at no additional charge. We never use backing tracks, but are able to provide incidental music over our PA between our performances.
Do you play dance music?
Please bear in mind that we are an acoustic duo. Although we do have people dancing to us, we are unlikely to be suitable for events where dance music is a prerequisite. We can, however, play a selection of suitable dance tracks over our PA between or after our sets. This is a very cost-effective way of providing your guests with both live music and a party night, without the additional cost of a DJ or full band.
What about other entertainment?
For larger occasions we can put together a package including a DJ or even a full function band at various price points. For example, Avenue can perform in the afternoon and/or early evening, and the full band or DJ take over after dinner.
Both Marcia and Laurie play in the party rock covers band FireWire, and discounts are available when both acts are booked together. We also have contacts with other entertainers should you prefer us to provide a single point of contact for all your entertainment.
What equipment do you have or require?
We are self-contained, and use a very compact high quality PA which is perfectly suitable for smaller venues. We have a simple lighting system and backdrop which can help provide ambience without being intrusive. We require a single 13 amp socket. Our equipment is PAT tested.
For medium-sized venues we bring a bigger PA and for large events we can use the house PA or a hired system (requiring two balanced XLR inputs for vocals and either ¼” or XLR input for the guitar). In exceptional circumstances additional lighting may be required, in which case this will be provided at cost of hire.
For very small, intimate performances we're happy to play without amplification.
How far will you travel?
We are based in Norfolk and our core fees are based on performance in the East Anglia region. We have a sliding scale of distance surcharges, which will be itemised in any quotation.
What is your dress code?
We dress smartly, and can perform in black tie / evening wear when required.
Do you have a CD?
Yes, we have a promotional CD which we are happy to send you free of charge on request. Please request this using the contact us form.
What about insurance and safety?
We have £10 million public liability insurance and our equipment is PAT tested for safety. Copies of the relevant certificates are available on request. Please use the contact us form.
